*  On February 24, 2009 Rep. Sandy Pasch and State Sen. Judy Robson, both Registered Nurses and members of the WI State Legislature announced their support for legislation to ban forced/mandatory overtime of health care workers. Such a ban will help defend patients from medical errors and health care workers from a practice that drives nurses from the bed side.  Please CLICK HERE to read the SEIU press release about this event.

If you would like to join them in this effort against mandatory overtime, please CLICK HERE to get involved.

Getting Involved in the Legislative Effort to Improve Jobs

Every day, elected leaders at the federal, state and local level make decisions that affect our jobs, our families and our lives. For SEIU, supporting solutions is not about Republicans or Democrats, liberals or conservatives. For SEIU, its about making a positive difference in the lives of health care workers, their patients and their families.

Suppression of Nurse Wages

In recent years SEIU's Nurse Alliance has helped expose the widespread health system practice of colluding to suppress nurse wages. Especially in metro areas with a very few large health systems, we believe this practice to be prevalent. Now multiple class action lawsuits have been filed and the Nurse Alliance is urging members to take action by asking the Department of Justice to investigate this anti-market practice. Please help by signing an on-line petition!

SEIU Nurse Testifies on Health Care Reform

Health Care Crisis
Now is the Time for Action!

For years we have witnessed our health care system deteriorate with crippling cost increases and declining access to vital health services. Last November, SEIU members helped elect a state legislature with the will to act on the health care crisis and other vital issues. SEIU HEALTHCARE District 1199WI member Dee Ives testified in Green Bay at the first of a series of State Senate field hearings, arguing that for the sake of our patients the time to reform our broken health care system is now.
