Health Care Professionals Can Take the Lead

Until recently debate about health care has been dominated by hospitals, insurance companies and pharmaceutical corporations, who spend millions on advertising, lobbying and campaign contributions.

Nurses and other health care professionals have been largely absent from the political process, even though we can bring some of the most important knowledge and experience to the table.

Yet opinion research shows that health care professionals are trusted more by the public than virtually any other group. On the other hand, traditional players like CEOs, HMOs, and pharmaceutical corporations are not well regarded.
