APRIL 1, 2003 -- HEART RISK ALERT
The CDC Recommends Against Smallpox Vaccination for Those with Three or More Heart Risk Factors; More States Halt Program |
The Bush administration is preparing to vaccinate 500,000 health workers for smallpox.
The U.S. government stopped mandatory smallpox vaccinations in 1972 because the rate of adverse effects, including death, was too high since there had not been a smallpox outbreak in this country since 1949.
Should you volunteer to be vaccinated?
Let our checklist, fact sheet, and decision tree help you decide.
