Unit Based Quarterly Meetings

During bargaining, management proposed meetings on each unit to discuss significant issues like appropriate staffing levels, equipment and technology needs, and major scheduling issues. We agreed with management's proposal, but bargained to make sure that staff have real shared control over meeting agendas and meeting length. We also made sure that staff have the right to all the information we need to meaningfully participate in the meetings.

Template agendas for each Quarterly Meeting will be finalized through the Labor Management Committee. However, staff have the right to place whatever staffing and scheduling issues are important to us on the agenda of any meeting by notifying our unit managers beforehand. You can view the latest version of tentative template agendas.

Some of the issues that should be discussed at Quarterly Meeting are:

* Staff levels and mix

* Methods for scheduling of holidays

* Methods for scheduling of vacations

* Scheduling of standby/on-call

* Scheduling options like self scheduling, every third weekend and cyclic scheduling

* Unit equipment and technology needs

* Work area improvements

* The number of employees allowed off for vacation/holiday at any given time

You can view the full language on Quarterly Meetings by looking at Letter of Understanding 1 in the newly ratified contract.
